Privacy Policy
Last updated:
This policy covers the King Dies Rich app for iPhone and iPad, published by Outlane Games ("we", "us"). It says what the app collects, how, why, who receives it, how long it is kept, and how you can say no or have it deleted.
We do not sell your data. You need no account to play, and you are never asked for your name.
The game runs on your device and works offline. It sends data only for the things in this policy: statistics you can turn off, the optional weekly tournament, and a copy of your kingdom. It shows no ads and does not track you. You will find every choice in the game's Settings and in section 11.
1. Game statistics (Firebase Analytics)
To understand how the game is played and to balance it, the app uses Google's Firebase Analytics, in the background as you play. While the Statistics switch in Settings is on, it records:
- Play and app use: sieges started and ended, halls reached, play time, kills, gold earned, how a siege ended, tutorial progress, things built and bought with in-game gold, equipment, gems, Bestiary cards, screens visited and settings changed.
- Purchases and the in-game economy: offers viewed, purchases begun and made, including the product, price and currency, and virtual currency earned and spent.
- The installation: a randomly generated app instance identifier, your device's model, the iOS and app versions, language, and events such as first launch and app use.
- Approximate location: country, region and city, which Google Analytics works out from your IP address. It does not store your IP address, and the app never asks for your precise location.
Firebase Analytics does not receive your name, your email address, your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) or its identifier for vendors (IDFV), and we do not link its app instance identifier to you. It is not used to track you across other companies' apps and websites, and advertising storage and personalization are off in it.
2. In-app purchases
Purchases are optional and made through the App Store. Apple collects your payment details under its own terms and Privacy Policy; we never see your card or bank details, nor your Apple Account.
To check a purchase and deliver it, the app handles the product, its transaction identifier, its status and your storefront's country, and keeps the identifiers in your saved game so that nothing is delivered twice. Purchases are checked on your device by Apple's own StoreKit: no payment information reaches our server. The app asks our server for the current time, and sends nothing with that request, so that the game's days and offers cannot be moved by changing your device's clock.
3. No ads, no tracking
This version of the app shows no ads and has no advertising SDK in it. It does not track you: it never reads your device's advertising identifier, and nothing it collects is shared with advertisers or data brokers, so iOS has nothing to ask you about tracking. If that ever changes, this policy will say so first, and iOS will ask you.
4. King of Kings
King of Kings is an optional weekly tournament, played together with the players of the game's other versions. Nothing is sent for it until you open it. To place you in a group, check your attempts and show the tables, the app sends our server, over HTTPS:
- An identifier: a random one, made by the game for this installation. It is not linked to your name or Apple Account, nor to an email address unless you save your progress with one (section 6), and is never shown to other players, who see a separate public identifier.
- Your king as the tournament shows him: the name you typed for him, his face and what he wears, his title and school, his deepest circle and strength, and that you play on iOS.
- Each attempt: its seed and the record of it (where you aimed and when you acted), which the server replays to check it. Your best score, place, league, prizes and wins each week are kept with your identifier.
- Friends: your friend code, the friends you add by theirs, and who invited whom.
What other players see: your king's name, face, outfit, title and school, his best score, place, league and wins; a week's champion stays in the chronicle of champions for good. A name is shown only if it passes the game's list of words it refuses; otherwise a name is drawn for him. Our servers count requests per network address to limit abuse, keeping only a one-way hash of the address for at most a day.
Reports: if you report a king's name, we receive that name and his public identifier, and nothing about you. If you block a king, that stays on your device alone.
5. Your saved game
Your progress, settings and purchases' identifiers are kept in the app's private storage on your device. They are included in your own iCloud or computer backups, as you have set them up. Backups are handled by Apple and by your device's settings.
Once circle I has fallen, the app also keeps a copy of your kingdom on our server, so that it comes back if your device loses it. It sends over HTTPS your save (your king and his name, gold, items, Kingdom, Crowns and the record of what you bought), a short summary of it (name, circle, play time, Crowns), the identifier of section 4 and a random identifier of the device, when the game leaves the screen, after a purchase, and every few minutes of play. No email or other contact goes with it.
6. Saving your progress with your email (optional)
Save my progress, in Settings, keeps your kingdom safe if you change or reset your device, and lets you play it on another. If you choose it, you give us your email address and we send you a six-digit code through our email provider; the code is kept only as a one-way hash and works for 15 minutes. Your email is then linked to your kingdom, and from then on the copy of section 5 is kept under it.
We use your email only to sign you in and to answer you when you write to us. We send no newsletters or marketing email. Nothing in the game requires an email.
7. Reminders and your device
- Reminders: if you say yes, the game schedules notifications on your device (one a day at most: your treasury is full, rewards wait, an offer ends). They are made on the device: no notification token or address is sent to us or to anyone. Turn them off in Settings or in iOS's Settings.
- Photos: if you choose Save Image when sharing one of the game's pictures, iOS asks to add it to your library. The app can only add to it, and never sees your photos.
- Sharing: what you share goes through iOS's share sheet, to whoever you choose.
- What the app never asks for: your contacts, camera, microphone or precise location.
8. How we use data, and how it is protected
We use all of the above only to run the game and the tournament, to deliver what you buy, to keep your progress, to understand and balance the game, to prevent cheating and abuse, and to answer you. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for anything else without asking you first.
Everything the app sends travels over HTTPS. The game's saves are protected by iOS's app sandbox.
9. Who receives data
- Apple handles App Store purchases and backups.
- Google runs Firebase Analytics (section 1). See Google's Privacy Policy and Firebase's privacy information.
- Vercel hosts our website and server, and keeps short-lived request logs.
- Supabase hosts our database: the tournament, your email if you give it, and the copy of your kingdom.
- Resend sends the sign-in emails.
We share data with no one else, unless the law requires it. Our servers and database are in the United States, so if you play from elsewhere your data is handled there.
We confirm that every third party with whom the app shares your data, including the analytics tools and SDKs named here, provides the same or equal protection of your data as this policy states and as the App Store's rules require. Each may use it only to provide its service, as its own policy and our agreement with it say.
10. How long data is kept
- Your saved game on the device: until you delete the app or use Reset progress. Your backups are yours to manage.
- Statistics: event data is deleted by Google Analytics after the period set for the game, 2 to 14 months. Reports made from it hold no one's data and may stay longer.
- A copy of your kingdom with no email: deleted 180 days after the game last sent it.
- Your email and the copy kept with it: until you delete the account (section 11).
- Tournament records: kept while the tournament is offered, so that past weeks stay as they were; the chronicle of champions is kept for good. Write to us to have your king removed.
- Purchases: the App Store keeps its own records, which deleting the app does not remove.
11. Your choices: saying no, and deleting your data
You can withdraw any consent at any time, and the game goes on working:
- Statistics: Settings → Statistics → Off. Nothing more is sent to Firebase Analytics. This does not delete what was already collected: for that, write to us.
- Reminders: Settings → Reminders → Off, or iOS's Settings.
- Your account: Settings → Progress saved → Delete account. Your email and the copy of your kingdom are deleted at once, and no copy is kept until an email keeps one again. The game on your device stays until you reset it. You can also do it on kingdiesrich.com/delete-account, with the email and a code we send to it.
- Everything else: Settings → Reset progress clears your game on the device, and deleting the app clears all it keeps there. To have data we hold deleted, write to hi@outlanegames.com. As the game knows you by a random identifier, we may ask for your friend code (in King of Kings' Friends tab) or your email to find it.
12. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, by writing to hi@outlanegames.com. Records needed for disputes or legal obligations may have to be kept. We will not treat you differently for asking.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we handle your data to provide the game and what you buy (our contract with you), for statistics, fair play and fraud prevention (our legitimate interests), and for reminders on your consent. You may also object, ask for a copy to take elsewhere, and complain to your data protection authority. Residents of California and other US states with privacy laws have the rights to know, correct and delete, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell it or share it for advertising.
13. Children
The game is for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information, such as an email address, from children under 13; if you believe a child has given us an email, write to us and we will delete it. Minors should ask a parent or guardian before buying anything.
14. Changes and contact
We may update this policy when the app or its data practices change; the current version is always on this page, with the date it last changed. For any question, write to Outlane Games at hi@outlanegames.com.
