Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This policy covers this website and the King Dies Rich game you play on it, published by Outlane Games ("we", "us"). The Android app has its own policy.

No ads. We do not sell or share your personal information.

You need no account to play: the game knows your browser by a random identifier. We ask for your email only if you choose to sign in, and for reminders only if you turn them on. Payments are handled by Xsolla: we never see your card or bank details.

1. Your game and its identifier

The game makes a random identifier for your browser and keeps it there, with your saved game. As you play, a copy of your saved game is kept on our server under that identifier, so that it can be restored and, if you sign in, played on another device. It holds what the game holds: your king and the name you give him, items, Kingdom, Crowns and shards, tournament tickets, the purchases delivered to it, and the like.

2. Signing in with your email (optional)

If you choose to sign in, you give us your email address and we send you a one-time code through our email provider. The code is kept only as a one-way hash and works for 15 minutes. Once you enter it, your email is linked to your game, so that signing in on another device brings your game there. We use your email only to sign you in and to answer you when you write to us about your game; we do not send newsletters or marketing email.

3. Game statistics

From your first siege on, the game keeps a record of how it is played, under your game's identifier:

  • How the game is played: sieges and how they ended, halls reached, playtime, kills, gold, items, Kingdom buildings, what is done between sieges, screens opened and the game's hints shown, and the main events of play.
  • The in-game economy: Crowns and shards earned, bought and spent, offers shown, and purchases begun and made.
  • What you play on: the kind of device, operating system and browser, the screen size, processor cores and memory as the browser reports them, how smoothly the game runs, and where the visit came from (a referring site or campaign tag).
  • Your country, as our hosting provider reports it from your connection. Your IP address is not stored with it: a one-way hash of it is used for at most a day to limit abuse.

It holds no name or contact details. If you sign in, your email is linked to the same identifier, so the record then relates to you. We use it only to understand and balance the game and to answer you when you write to us.

4. King of Kings and friends

When you take part in the weekly tournament, our server receives the record of each of your attempts and replays it to check it. It keeps the attempt's result with your king as he went into it (his items, Kingdom and look), and the results of each week.

What other players see: your king's name, head, outfit, title and school, his best score, place, league and wins, in the tournament's tables and among the world's best; a week's champion stays in the chronicle of champions for good. Your king and his best results may also be shown in other groups in later weeks while players are few. Your game's identifier is never shown: other players see a separate public one.

Friends: your invitation code and link, who invited whom, and who your friends are. Your friends see your king, league, place and how far you have come.

5. Reminders

The game can send you reminders through your browser only if you turn them on and your browser asks for, and gets, your permission. Your browser then gives us a push subscription: an address at your browser's push service (run by Google, Apple, Mozilla or Microsoft, depending on your browser) and keys to encrypt the messages. We keep it with your game's identifier, your time zone, and the reminders the game has scheduled, and send them through that push service; reminders due at night are held until the morning. Turn reminders off at any time in the game or in your browser's settings for this site; a subscription that no longer works is deleted.

6. The feedback card

After some play the game may ask how you like it. If you answer, your rating and any words you write are kept with your game's statistics. Please do not write personal information there.

7. Google Analytics

The website and the game use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and the game's main moments (a siege begun, a boss defeated, a building built). Google Analytics sets its own cookies and processes data under Google's Privacy Policy. It is not used for advertising.

8. Purchases

Purchases are optional and processed by Xsolla, our authorized reseller and merchant of record. Xsolla collects your payment details, email address and billing country in its payment window, under its own privacy policy, which it shows there. We never receive your card number or bank details.

For each purchase, Xsolla tells us the order number, what was bought, the amount, currency, taxes and fees, the kind of payment method, your country, and your game's identifier. We use this to deliver the purchase to your game, prevent fraud and double delivery, answer support requests and refunds, and keep our accounts. Your saved game also remembers which orders it has received.

9. Who handles data for us

  • Vercel hosts the website and its server, and keeps short-lived request logs.
  • Supabase hosts our database: your saved game's copy, your email if you sign in, the statistics, the tournament, reminders and purchase records.
  • Resend sends the sign-in emails.
  • Your browser's push service carries reminders, if you turn them on.
  • Google runs Google Analytics (section 7).
  • Xsolla takes payments as the merchant of record, under its own privacy policy (section 8).

We do not sell your personal information or share it for advertising, and we do not let these providers use it for their own purposes beyond what is described here and in their own policies.

10. Where it is kept, and for how long

Our servers and database are in the United States; if you play from elsewhere, your data is handled there. Your game's copy and your email (also one entered only to ask for a code) are kept until you ask us to delete them. Statistics and feedback are kept while they help us balance the game. Tournament records are kept to check and show results; the chronicle of champions is kept for good. Reminder subscriptions are kept until you turn reminders off or they stop working. Purchase records are kept as long as needed to deliver purchases, handle refunds and disputes, and meet tax and accounting obligations. Google Analytics keeps event data for the period set on the game's property.

11. Your rights and choices

Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, by writing to hi@outlanegames.com. As your game is known by a random identifier, we may need your email (if you signed in), an order number, or the identifier your browser keeps to find what relates to you. Records needed for disputes or legal obligations may have to be kept. We will not treat you differently for asking.

Residents of California and other US states with privacy laws have these rights to know, correct and delete, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information: we do not sell or share it. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we handle your data to provide the game and what you buy (our contract with you), for statistics, fair play and fraud prevention (our legitimate interests), and for reminders on your consent; you may also object, ask for a copy to take elsewhere, and complain to your data protection authority.

12. Children

The game is meant for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information, such as an email address, from children under 13; if you believe a child under 13 has given us an email, contact us and we will delete it. Minors should ask a parent or guardian before making any purchase.

13. Changes and contact

We may update this policy when the website, the game, its tournament or its store changes; the current version is always on this page, with the date it last changed. For any question, write to Outlane Games at hi@outlanegames.com. The terms of play and purchases are in the Terms of Service and Sale.
